Proxy in Project Practice: From Network Configuration to Application Scenarios

Proxy in Project Practice

Proxies are traditionally considered highly specialized network infrastructure elements used in administration and integration. This perception has historically been ingrained and is more often associated with professional use; in practice, their role is broader.

Any web service or game server evaluates not only the request content but also the source parameters. These factors include IP address, geography, frequency of requests, intervals between actions, and the repeatability of operations. These characteristics are taken into account in rate limiting mechanisms, anti-bot filters, and behavior analysis systems.

Proxies add a new layer between the client and the target system. Outgoing traffic can be divided into independent streams, each of which is treated as a separate source.

In gaming services, the connection region determines server availability, latency, and feature set. Proxies can be used to connect to local nodes, test network behavior from different countries, or interact with releases that are only available in certain locations.

For projects with datagram traffic, it’s better to use UDP proxies instead of traditional solutions. In popular online games and services with regional segmentation, proxies can be useful for connecting to specific regions based on server requirements.

How does traffic source management work?

In gaming services, geographic location can directly impact client access and behavior. Projects divide infrastructure by region, impose registration and connection restrictions, and process traffic differently depending on the source country. In these circumstances, proxies allow you to set the desired connection region and achieve the desired result.

Examples:

  • Registration for regional releases — creating an account with an IP address in the desired country;
  • Connecting to individual clusters — accessing Asian or local servers inaccessible from other regions;
  • Latency management — selecting an exit point closer to the game server to reduce network latency;
  • Testing game scenarios — checking client behavior when connecting from different regions and networks.

Proxies can be useful in online games and services with regional segmentation: different regions offer access to promotions, bonuses, and in-game currency at reduced prices, which can be used to your advantage.

In business settings, the impact of traffic sources is less visible, but has a greater impact on results. Analytics systems, marketplaces, advertising platforms, and APIs evaluate request flows using the same parameters: frequency, sequence of actions, and geography.

Examples:

  • Data collection and monitoring — distributing requests across addresses to avoid hitting limits and obtain a full range of data;
  • Integration with external services — API operation at high request rates by sharing the load;
  • Regional search results and price verification — obtaining data based on geography;
  • Automation — running scripts and background tasks without reducing speed or availability.

In short: proxies define request source parameters that are honored by the server. They allow you to manage access, load, and system behavior within its limitations, without being tied to a single source. The choice of provider determines how well they work, so if you need to buy an IPv4 proxy, choose carefully.

Proxy-solutions is a proxy rental service offering various address types, verification tools, and several management options. It’s suitable for tasks where geography, connection format, and control are important.

The product line includes several proxy types:

  • Personal IPv4 proxies are elite/anonymous proxies with a fixed IP address;
  • Packet IPv4 proxies are personal proxies packaged as a package: the price per IP decreases as the volume increases, and renewal is only available for the entire package;
  • Prime proxies are personal IPv4 proxies with IP addresses assigned to real providers, not data centers;
  • City proxies are IPv4 proxies that select a specific city for precise geolocation of the source;
  • UDP proxies are proxies with UDP support, used in services with real-time traffic, including online games;
  • Multi-protocol proxies are services that support multiple connection protocols in a single proxy (Shadowsocks, Socks5+TLS, Trojan+TLS, VLESS+TLS).

Proxy-solutions offers two mobile proxies: standard and Mobile Plus. Access is provided through channels: each channel corresponds to a single proxy, where the IP address can be changed manually or by a timer. The Plus version also allows you to select an operator and city.

Management is available through the personal account and API. The account displays active connections, countries, rental periods, and order history. Renewals, replacements, and batch operations with addresses are available. The API allows you to receive, update, and track proxies, as well as connect them to external systems such as CRM, parsers, and scripts.

A separate section is Network Tools. This subscription provides full access to related tools:

  • Proxy checker — checks the availability of addresses;
  • format converter — converts lists;
  • free proxies — list of open addresses for testing;
  • my IP — checks your current IP address and its network parameters.

To manage proxies in the browser, the team developed its own PSs extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. It allows you to connect and switch proxies, works with any address, and when integrated with your personal account, allows you to download proxies directly from the service.

Chatbots in Telegram and Viber replicate the main actions of your personal account: you can use them to register and renew proxies, check your balance, and immediately contact support—available through the ticket system and online consultants on the website during business hours.
