JOB
PURPOSE:
a)
Distributor Parts department strategy formulation and execution
b)
Distributor budgeting, budgetary control and expense management
c)
Marketing and promotion of Parts and accessories sales
d)
Performance Management and supervision for direct reports
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Distributor
Parts Strategy Formulation and Execution
1)
Prepares distributor medium to long term parts strategic and business plans in
line with overall parameters, goals and strategies set and agreed to by
management.
2)
Develops 90 day tactical and action plans for the Distributor.
3)
Tracks and monitors the performance of direct reports against 90 day tactical
and action plans against agreed targets and reports on the same management.
4)
Reviews the medium and long term parts strategy on a quarterly basis in order
to ensure annual plans are in line with proposed budget parameters and targets.
5)
Manages distributor parts performance and reviews the same on a monthly basis
in order to ensure that performance is in line with the parameters and targets
such as;
§ Gross profit
§ Gross margin
§ Dead stock levels
§ Stock levels
§ Stock days
a)
Proportion of accessories as a percentage of total parts sales
b)
Market share
c)
Customer Service Indicators
Distributor
budgeting, budgetary control and expense management
Prepares
distributor budgets in line with parameters advised by management on time and
schedule
a)
Tracks and ensures that distributor marketing and promotion costs are at all
times within approved guidelines and budgets.
b)
Tracks and monitors the performance of distributor parts and accessories sales
budgets against actual expenditure on a monthly basis.
c)
Ensures that all distributor expenditure is budgeted for and that all capital
expenditure proposed by the distributor is in line with guide lines and
policies
d)
Complies fully with distributor procurement guidelines for goods and services.
e)
Manages distributor debtors and ensures that they are at all times contained
within approved tolerance limits.
f)
Marketing and promotion of Parts and accessories sales
g)
Develops, maintains and updates an up-to-date market intelligence database that
includes;
 Market/competitor pricing information·
 Garage owners’ frequent parts orders and
requirements
·
 Parts requirements for institutional garages· & fleet
 Lost sales·
 Requirements of particular groups and
associations.
·
 Directs and supervises Parts Sales Consultants
and ensures that they meet monthly targets.
·
 Tracks and monitors performance of distributor
parts and accessories sales on a weekly basis against targets.
·
 Supports distributor parts sales consultants
with order follow up and deal closure.
·
 Trains and ensures that distributor Parts
Consultants have adequate product knowledge.
·
 Enforces full compliance with parts SOPs by
all direct reports.
·
 Approves weekly· customer visits
calendars of Parts Consultants, ensures that call reports for each visit are
prepared and posted on the server within two days of each visit and reviews and
provides support and guidance on key issues arising there from at the end of
each weekly visit cycle.
h)
Parts sales supply chain management and stock control
Ensures
effective stock management to ensure limited stock outs as well as avoid
overdue stock ageing.
Delivers
orders in line with guidelines and parts sales agreements.
Directs
and supervises direct reports to ensure compliance with company guidelines for
parts.
i)
Customer Relationship Management
Trains
and ensures that distributor parts staff have adequate customer relationship
management skills and knowledge.
Promotes
and reinforces customer centricity culture throughout the distributor
Ensures
and promotes effective customer complaints handling and resolution at
distributor level
j)
Performance management and staff development
 Directs distributor Parts activities.·
 Supervises and trains direct reports.·
 Enforces a high level of customer relations
and service within the distributor.
·
 Develops the distributor Parts sales team to
ensure improved business performance.
·
 Monitors and· appraises direct
reports performance in line and full compliance with existing policies and
procedures as well as tools such as PMS, CDP etc.
 Enforces compliance with all SOPs and terms
and conditions of service as laid out in the staff handbook

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
REQUIRED:
§ A First Degree in
Engineering/Business/Accountancy.
§ Qualifications in
Supply Chain Management is preferable and will be an added advantage
§ Minimum of three
years’ experience in parts and accessories sales.
