About MUWRP:
The Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is
a non-profit HIV research program that was established in 2002 as a result of a
memorandum of understanding between Makerere University and The Henry M.
Jackson foundation for Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The
primary purpose of MUWRP is to develop, evaluate and provide interventions to
mitigate disease threats of public health importance to Uga
a non-profit HIV research program that was established in 2002 as a result of a

Jackson foundation for Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The
primary purpose of MUWRP is to develop, evaluate and provide interventions to
mitigate disease threats of public health importance to Uga
nda. Activities
include; vaccine development and building of vaccine testing capability in
Uganda, conducting of epidemiological and basic research and provision of HIV
Treatment, care and support and surveillance of influenza and other emerging
infections.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the recruitment of volunteers
- Administering HIV counseling and testing
- Administering Informed Consent.
- In charge of administering questionnaires
- Responsible for the collection of study specimens
- Ensure compliance with study procedures and GCP
standards - Ensure participant safety and confidentiality.
- Following Standard Operating Procedures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate must be a Registered /Enrolled
Nurse or Midwife. Possession of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognised
institution will be an added advantage. - A minimum of two years of post-qualification
professional experience. - Previous work in a research environment is
added advantage - Certificate training in Ethics and Good Clinical
Practice will be an added advantage. - Working knowledge of Regulatory Procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Fluency in verbal and written English and Luganda
- Use of computers including word processing and
Internet. - Highly organized, detail-oriented and
self-motivated. - Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
