FLEdGE Partnership: Food, Locally Embedded, Globally Engaged is seeking a summer
research assistant to work with Food Secure Canada on a participatory
action research project on food policy in Canada.
Partnership: Food, Locally Embedded, Globally Engaged builds on more than five
years of research pa
rtnerships with over seventy Canadian and international
participants. FLEdGE allow us to explore the current and potential role of
community food initiatives to act as pillars of regional, sustainable
transformation. Our research is guided by three sustainable food systems
themes: 1) The need for integration across multiple political jurisdictions,
policy spheres and sectors through improved understanding and associated
knowledge and material flows; 2) The tensions, compromises and opportunities
inherent in the scaling up and out of sustainable food system initiatives; and
3) The need for appropriate governance structures and institutions to support
the development of sustainable food systems. This position builds directly on
the third theme.
Secure Canada (FSC) is a national alliance of organizations and individuals
working together to advance food security and food sovereignty through three
inter-locking goals: zero hunger, healthy and safe food, and sustainable food
