YES Rwanda (YR) is a Non-governmental Organization
that is part of Global Youth Employment Campaign, currently known as Youth
Employment and Sustainability (YES). The initiative was inspired by the urgent
need to take action to address the challenge of youth unemployment mainly in
developing countries where millions of unemployed young people are unable to
find decent and productive employment. The overall objectives of the YES Global
Campaign are twofold:

To build the capacity of young people to create decent
and sustainable livelihoods; and
·        
To establish an entrepreneurial culture where young
people will work towards self-employment.
YES Campaign has worked to bring youth employment high
on development partners and governments’ agenda as a broad strategy to create
sustainable livelihoods for millions of young people. The mission is pursued
under the YES Framework for action to promote youth employment through six Es,
namely; Employability, Equity, Entrepreneurship, Employment Creation, Education
and Environmental Sustainability.
Project
Description:
YL&BED’s Mushroom Farming Project will
commence the program’s 2013 project pilot. 
The ultimate purpose of cultivating this enterprise is to promote
productive employment that will deliver decent wages and develop the skills of
unemployed youth.  Since mushroom farming
is an underdeveloped activity in Rwanda’s agribusiness sector, being an early
entrant offers a unique opportunity for the youth employed by the project to
gain sustainable employment and entrepreneurial skills, and for intensive
project scalability and thus wider-reaching employment opportunities for the
youth.
Scope of Work:
·        
Business plan
development, to include Executive Summary, Business Model, Market Demand, Financials,
Growth Trajectory, Marketing Strategy
·        
Develop and
undertake market research using primary and secondary sources. This will
include (but is not limited to) detailing the competitive environment,
description of market segmentation and target market(s), market growth
trajectory, and other pertinent factors to inform the desirability and
feasibility of the project.
Qualifications:
·        
Minimum Bachelor’s
degree in a relevant field (or equivalent field experience in agribusiness and
enterprise development)
·        
Network of mushroom
farming vendors, potential customers and experts in the field
·        
Experience conducting
market research and developing business proposals
·        
Knowledgeable about
the mushroom market with a nuanced understanding of its challenges and
opportunities
·        
Experience teaching
or training mushroom farming procedures to beginners
·        
Flexibility and
adaptability
·        
Fluency in
Kinyarwanda and English
·        
Excellent
communication skills, especially presentation
·        
Entrepreneurial spirit
Potential for
contract extension/advancement:
The YL&BED Program is seeking a dedicated
and passionate consultant who will develop ownership and commitment to the
project s/he will research. With a vision for the Mushroom Project Pilot to
launch in March 2013, the YL&BED Program will require a Marketing and Sales
Officer to ensure the products meet the market in order
to grow to scale. Preferably, the marketing consultant will produce thorough
and exemplary deliverables with an interest in implementing the project, which
will culminate in an invitation to extend the consultant contract to advance to
the Mushroom Farming Marketing and Sales Officer. 
Contract extension is contingent upon
performance and ability to meet deadlines with the individual exemplifying
creative problem solving and professional compatibility with the YES Rwanda
team.
