Patagonia Calgary Retail Sales Associate Job Vacancy in Calgary, Alberta

Position is initially part time with the possibility of full time starting in mid May.

General Summary:
Interact with people to build long-term clients and relationships for the organization. Inspire customers with
stories of personal activities and corporate philosophy. Provide exceptional service for our customers, involving product knowledge and environmental education. Maintain the image of the store through general upkeep, merchandising and cleaning.

Essential Job Functions:
• Your Primary Responsibility is Customer Service.
• Greet all customers promptly and courteously as they enter the store.
• Find out the specific needs of each person that enters the store.
• Give accurate and current information about the product for all inquiries; if the correct information is not at hand, do everything possible to provide an answer before the customer leaves the store.
• Offer to order in products requested that are not in the store. Fill out all the appropriate paperwork and follow up with the manager to ensure that the products are ordered properly. Double-check that products ordered come in at a reasonable time by following up with the manager about your customer orders.
• Increase the customer base by adding new customers to the mailing list
• Work to make long term clients, not just sales, and learn to sell by satisfying customer needs.
• Understand the spirit of the returns and warranty policy, and complete all of the warranty forms. Discuss and fill in the warranty manager on the unique situation each warranty provides. Follow up with the warranty manager on all the warranties that you have dealt with.
• Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude and cooperate with teamwork.
• Understand the Elements Inc. “Retail Philosophy” as set forth by management.

Merchandising and Maintenance:
• All folded merchandise must be neat and well folded with a folding board; Sizes should be arranged in order from smallest to largest
• Maintain store image by adhering to the dress guidelines as outlined by management
• Help store merchandiser and/or store manager by suggesting alternative locations for products
• Maintain a clean and well-organized back-stock area
• Sweep, mop & vacuum floors and empty all trash each day as required
• Follow washroom/back room checklist and clean areas promptly when it is your turn

Operations:
• Report to work on time or notify in advance if absent or late.
• Operate the cash register; it should be each employee’s goal to use the register without error and to be consistently accurate in money handling.
• Understand and utilize the opening day procedures and closing procedures checklist
• Use correct procedures for processing mail orders, and special orders
• Know the procedures for processing paperwork for special orders and warranties.
• Practice security measures that help prevent theft; understand the procedures for handling shoplifters.
• Practice safety consciousness at all times

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to safely and regularly lift and carry 55 pounds
• Must be comfortable with climbing ladders
• Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time

Minimum Job Qualifications:
• Demonstrated willingness to approach people and engage in conversation.
• Demonstrated understanding of Patagonia’s products and philosophy.
• Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
• Comfortable with team-based work structure and, when needed, the ability to work independently.
• Available to work store schedule — Sunday to Saturday.
