Expected Hours: ~4 hours per day twice per week in October and once
per week in November

M.K. Ince and Associates (MKI) is a consulting firm involved in
renewable energy projects. MKI undertakes extensive environmental
studies for renewable energy projects. As a small company MKI is
committed to the wise use of the earth’s resources and to community
involvement in building a sustainable future.

The Position:

MKI is seeking a qualified Field Assistant, preferably with a
background in biology, ecology, or ornithology and some field work
experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying
out field work related to research into the bird and bat impacts of a
wind energy project.

Contract Term:

The Field Assistant will be expected to work on site two days each
week during October and one day per week in November (field days are
negotiable). Field work will take approximately 4 hours per day.

Remuneration:

An hourly rate of 15-18 $/hr will be provided based on experience and
interest in birds and bats. A per diem will be provided to offset
transportation costs.

Qualifications:
• Ability to conduct field work under a variety of weather and
logistical challenges
• Excellent attention to detail is a must
• Ability to work with minimum supervision; good time management skills
• Reliability and commitment to a high quality of work
• Ability to collect, compile and process field data
• Ability to visually identify bird and bat species is an advantage
• A basic working knowledge of GPS, GIS and spreadsheets
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Familiarity with species at risk is an advantage
• Previous experience in biological field work is preferred
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle in sound working order
