CNFA
is a US-based nonprofit nongovernmental organization (NGO) that works to
stimulate economic growth and improve rural livelihoods by empowering the
private sector through five core capabilities: (1) Productivity, Food Security
and Nutrition; (2) Input Supply and Farm Services; (3) Economic Resilience and
Rapid Recovery; (4) Value Chain Development; and (5) Volunteer Technical
Assistance. CNFA assists smallholders in increasing household-level food
security and nutrition through improved agricultural practices, introduction of
new varieties, diversification of crop production, food preservation and
storage, development of farmer-based organizations (FBOs) and strengthened
linkages to markets.
Program
Description Feed the Future Rwanda Hinga Weze
The
primary objective of the Feed the Future Rwanda Hinga Weze activity is to
sustainably increase smallholder farmers’ income, improve nutritional status of
Rwandan women and children, and increase the resilience of the agriculture and
food systems to the changing climate.
Position
Description
Under
the supervision of the Senior M&E Specialist, the Communications Officer
will be responsible for developing and overseeing the project communications
strategy and activities, including developing marketing materials that comply
with the USAID approved Branding and Marking Plan. S/he will also be
responsible for quality control on all reports, project branding and marking,
supporting the Hinga Weze training agenda, and development of success stories,
press releases and marketing materials.
Duties
and Responsibilities:
The
main duties of the Communications Officer are:
  • Develop
    and oversee communications materials including but not limited to success
    stories, press releases, brochures, presentations, speeches, talking
    points and additional marketing materials.
    Regularly communicate the project’s activities and impacts to CNFA
    headquarters and stakeholders.This includes submitting Quarterly
    Deliverables to CNFA HQ and participating in bi-monthly phone calls to HQ;
  • Take
    the lead role in the development of weekly, monthly and quarterly
    reports/updates to USAID and to CNFA headquarters. Coordinate written
    inputs of the program team into a consolidated report document;
  • Ensure
    Project’s compliance with USAID and CNFA’s Branding and Marking Plan;
  • In
    close collaboration with the Operations and Procurement Manager, respond
    to short notice and ad hoc communication requests from USAID;
  • Assist
    execution of office photography and documentation of the Hinga Weze
    brochure, workshops and publications and distribution of printed
    materials;;
  • Lead
    logistical support and ensure proper coordination for the preparation of
    high-level meetings and workshops and public events;
  • Continue
    to develop and manage an extensive library of videos, photography, and
    project documents.Later stages will include short Project videos;
  • Support
    the production of high-quality reports including the Feed the Future
    biweekly, monthly and quarterly reports to be submitted to USAID;
  • Support
    the development and contribute of success stories;
  • Undertake
    other assignments or tasks at the request of the Chief of Party.
Qualifications:
  • 5
    years of experience in communications and media, including managing and
    launching promotional events and materials for donor-funded projects;
  • Bachelors
    or higher in Media, Communication, and Development;
  • Fluency
    in English and advanced level of French and Kinyarwanda Fluent speaker of
    French and Kinyarwanda; and advanced speaker of English;
  • Excellent
    organizational skills and ability to work in fast-paced environment;
  • Ability
    to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Experience
    working on USAID branding and marking strategy, including the development
    of one-pagers, sector-specific fact sheets, and success stories, a plus;
  • Excellent
    communication and writing skills.
