The Trees of Hope Manager is responsible
for helping to maintain and eventually improve the quality of the Trees of Hope
program and to help farmers generate income from carbon finance through
planting agroforestry systems, ultimately improving their environmental
ecosystems.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required
to perform the following main duties:

- Managing
communities’ environmental ecosystems and assisting farmers generate
income from carbon finance through planting agroforestry systems; - Managing the
team of field officers (FOs) in Neno and Dowa - Develop
project work standards and targets for assessing job effectiveness of
FOs - Conduct
regular visits to field offices, farmers, and local program monitors
(LPMs) to monitor progress and effective performance in developing tree
nurseries, distributing seeds and poly tubes and planting trees according
to Plan Vivo protocol and maintain trees to achieve target survival
rates; - Identifying
knowledge and skill gaps in FOs (training needs assessment) and proposing
options to cover the gap; - Reviewing and
revising all training modules, ensuring standardization and effectiveness
of all newly introduced materials,; - Support data
collection for the project and the implementation of Monitoring &
Evaluation (M&E) systems; and, - Engage in
office operations, including but not limited to finances, human resources
and administration.
Qualifications
- Minimum B.S. in Agroforestry or Forestry
Science - Minimum of five (5) years of progressive work
in managing forestry and or agroforestry projects, including working with
farming communities; two (2) years managing a team and budgets; - Advanced computer skills, proficient in MS
Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); advanced experience with large
data sets and spreadsheets in MS Excel and other databases; - Agroforestry technical skills including but
not limited to: species identification, pest and disease control, nursery
establishment, mature tree orchard/fruit tree management; post-harvest
processing; deriving economic benefits from tree crops; and utilizing
agroforestry as a system to mitigate climate change
