Duck Creek is a family run organic farm looking for a farm hand intern
to join us for the rest of the season (until end of October). We’re
market farmers located on Salt Spring Island, who practice organic
farming and biodynamics. The farm and orchard has an idyllic setting
out of the hustle and bustle of city life but close enough to bike
into town and we have a great focus on community on Salt Spring.
Interns will get the opportunity to see what it’s like to grow,
maintain and harvest produce, preserve through canning and
dehydrating, save seeds, and general farm management.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, op
en, communicative, energetic and
flexible person to join the team, since one intern had to recently go
back home to take care of a family member in need. The farm has a
young, vibrant feel and we’re really set on keeping up the positive
dynamic, with a fun, hard working atmosphere. Lunch is provided on
work days (Monday to Friday) plus a $50 weekly food stipend. There is
a refreshing pond to jump in on a hot day and hiking trails and a
beach close by. Accommodation is a small cabin separate from the
communal kitchen, shower, hang out space and outhouse that you will
share with the other interns or a bedroom off the communal space.
