Young People’s Theatre (YPT), now in its 47th season, is
Canada’s largest theatre for young audiences and currently produces and
presents an 8-play season with an audience of up to 80,000+. Housed at a
renovated, historical venue in Toronto, YPT works on a 468-seat Mainstage and a
115-seat Studio stage. Its operating budget is approximately $3.5 million. The

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Education & Participation
and the Associate Artistic Director, Education, the Community Volunteer
Coordinator will enhance and sustain the volunteer program at YPT which
includes students, interns, apprentices, and community participants in every
aspect of YPT’s operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Recruit, screen, place,
schedule, monitor and assess volunteers, student interns, co-ops and apprentices.
•Train YPT staff in volunteer relations/management. •Assess internal needs for
volunteers and opportunities for external groups and individuals to get
involved in programming with YPT. •Act as company liaison for anyone wishing to
acquire skills or training at YPT. •Research and liaise with local schools,
universities, community agencies, residents’ associations and other
not-for-profit organizations. •Develop and maintain a Volunteer Recognition
Program. •Record and report on volunteer statistics. •Participate as an active
member of the Education & Participation Department team.
 

Requirements:

•A minimum of 3 years experience in volunteer management.
•Experience with resource, project and budget management. •Computer literacy:
MS Excel, Word, Outlook, database management. •Excellent written,
communication, and organizational skills. •Excellent people skills; comfort
with and experience in meeting people from all walks of life. •Ability to work
with children and youth.
