TEG Postgraduate Training Fellowship in Medical Statistics for African Scientists at LSHTM in UK

UK Medical Research Council (MRC) is funding TEG
postgraduate training fellowship in medical statistics. Fellowship is provided
to support two years training in medical statistics. For the first year,
students will study MSc degree in Medical Statistics followed by a one-year
professional attachment at one of the African centers associated with the research
programme of the Tropical Epidemiology Group (TEG) at LSHTM. The fellowship
covers costs for fees, stipend (£14,000) and return air travel. Candidates must
be resident in and a national of a country in sub-Saharan Africa. Candidates
must possess an excellent first degree with a background in mathematics,
statistics or a related subject and have at least 1 year of work experience in
medical statistics or epidemiology.
Study Subject(s): The
fellowship is provided to support two years training in medical statistics.
Course Level: This fellowship is available for pursuing MSc degree in
Medical Statistics at the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene
(LSHTM).

Eligibility:

Scholarship Description: During the professional attachment, training Fellows will develop
their statistical and research skills by working on studies with guidance from
TEG staff. This support is intended to foster excellence in the field of
medical statistics and epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa.
Duration of award(s): Fellowship is applicable for two years.
What does it cover? The fellowship will provide costs for fees, stipend (£14,000) and
return air travel.
Notification: The
short-listed candidates will be interviewed by telephone in May. The successful
candidate will be informed shortly after the interviews have been completed.
