Call for Students: CNIO Summer Training Programme in Spain

The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre(CNIO)
announces up to 7 summer training opportunities for undergraduate university
students of any nationality. Students should be in their final two years
of studies in the Life Sciences or related subjects (e.g. Biology, Biomedicine,
Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Bioinformatics). The programme will run
from June 24 to August 16 (8 weeks). Travel expenses and meals will be covered
by the CNIO for summer training programme students during their stay at the
center. Fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis taking into consideration
the student’s academic record and the personal statement. Applications should
be sent online.

Eligibility:
 -Applicants must be an undergraduate university student in your final two years
of Life Sciences or Bio medicine -related studies (in any country) and planning
on pursuing a career in the Life Sciences.
-Applicants must have an excellent academic track record with a Grade
Point Average (GPA) above 0.75(with your GPA as the numerator and the highest
possible GPA as the denominator).
-Applicants must have a good knowledge of English.
-Applicants must be available from June 24to August 16(8 weeks) to attend
the training programme . If you cannot be at the CNIO during this period, you
will not be eligible for the programme.
Scholarship Open for Students of Following
Countries
: The International students can apply for this
scholarship.
Scholarship Description: The programme runs from June 24 to August 16, 2013, and is open to
undergraduate students of any nationality who are in their final two years
of studies in the Life Sciences or related subjects (e.g. Biology, Bio
medicine, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Bioinformatics). Travel expenses and
meals will be covered by the CNIO for summer training programme students during
their stay at the center.
Number of awards offered: Up to 7 summer training positions will be awarded during 2013 to
undergraduate university students in their final two years of bio
medicine-related studies in any country.
Duration of award(s): The training programme will run from June 24 to August 16(8 weeks) and
will consist of 312 working hours–the actual timetable will be mutually agreed
on by the students and the programme director. The intensive nature of the
programme requires a full-time commitment (40 hours per week) from the
participant. Students are required to participate in all scheduled activities.
Selection Criteria: Positions will be awarded on a competitive basis taking into
consideration the student’s academic records and motivation letter. In case of
equal merits, students in their final year of studies will be given preference.
Notification: Selected applicants will be notified at least one month prior the
beginning of the stay.
