Reporting to the General Manager you will:
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance
of strategies, systems, standards and specifications in the area of road
network operations. - Participate in and manage projects relating to
the analysis and management of systems in particularly as they relate to
road network operations. - Lead or participate in a team to develop
strategies and policies in relation to road network operations, including
traffic engineering and traffic operations. - Research, evaluate and report on the
application of new trends and practices suitable for use in road network
operations, including general traffic engineering, traffic control devices
and traffic operations. - Project Management accountability.
- Implement Departmental standards,
specifications and initiatives in the area of road network operations. - Provide traffic engineering advice and support
services to internal and external clients, including advice on technical
matters appropriate for presentation to public and private bodies and in
response to enquiries from the public. - Provide traffic analysis and modelling
services to Transport and Main Roads and other clients using various
proprietary software tools. - Liaise with Transport and Main Roads, regional
representatives, local government and other organisations regarding road network
operations and ensure that they are provided with up to date technical
information.
The successful applicant will have three year
experience in traffic planning, possess AWTM accreditation, engineer
qualifications and will be an excellent communicator. Experience with traffic
modelling software or road design will be highly advantageous. The
ability to identify and secure new work is also important.
