The Swiss National Science Foundation is funding
International PhD research position in Political Science at University of St.
Gallen in Switzerland. English language proficiency is required for
international applicants. Researchers must have an MA degree in political
science, economics, or statistics/methodology. Analytical skills, knowledge of

Eligibility: You have
•an excellent MA degree in political science, economics, or
statistics/methodology
•analytical skills and a thorough understanding of modern political science
theories
•knowledge of and experience with quantitative methods (ideally in causal
inference or experimental techniques and/or survey methods)
•very good writing skills
•must have a good command of the English language.

Scholarship Description: The project examines individual attitudes toward financial bailouts
and explores the individual-level and policy-specific factors that affect mass
opinion on the Eurozone bailouts. The start date is December 1st, 2013 or by
agreement. The position is initially limited to one year and will be extended
to three years conditional on satisfactory performance.
Applicants will:
•join a highly motivated research team based at the University of
St. Gallen
•be expected to complete various competitive academic training programs, for
example, the Swiss Program for Beginning Doctoral Students offered by the Study
Center Gerzensee and to attend PhD courses at the University of St. Gallen
and at summer schools.
•be responsible for a component of a larger study on mass support for financial
bailouts
•present your research internally and at both national and international
conferences.

Duration of award(s): The position is initially limited to one year and will be extended to
three years conditional on satisfactory performance.
