We are currently looking for an Accounting Associate to complete a 14 month full time maternity leave based out of our Mississauga head office.

Accounting Associate
The successful applicant will perform specific functions involving the Company’s accounts payable and various general accounting responsibilities to meet monthly, quarterly and yearly financial objectives.
You will support various Company divisions with their general accounting and accounts payable needs and assist with month and year end financials and reporting, analysis & cost reporting, government remittances, financial statements and related activities.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• A post secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• 3+ years working experience in a general A/P or equivalent role
• Detail oriented and a solid background in record keeping procedures and maintaining organized documentation and/or filing systems
• Experience with different accounting software packages
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Programs: Word, Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to interact with customers.
• Good knowledge with Microsoft Office and Excel

Positional Responsibilities:
• Processing and paying Accounts Payable invoices, handling intercompany payments and reconciliations
• Coordinating month end transactions as they relate to accounts payables
• Year end and audit preparation as it relates to accounts payables
• Handling government remittances
• Maintaining bank account transactions
• Handling and managing petty cash
• Ensure compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Company’s financial policies and procedures
• Communicate with customers and sales reps to determine when payments will be received on and/or issued
• Maintain and update various spreadsheets as appropriate
• Prepare reconciliation, analysis, summaries and reports
• Maintain filing and perform data entry as required
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Navision database with respect to the modules/areas directly affected/used/mortified by this position
• Assist accounting team members where needed
• Perform special projects or tasks when assigned
• Other duties as required by the Chief Operating Officer
