One
Acre Fund is an agricultural NGO that is innovating a new way of helping farm
families to achieve their full potential. In more than five years in Rwanda, we
have grown to serve 100,000 farm families with more than 1,000 full-time field
staff. We are Rwanda’s fastest growing professional organization. To help
manage this growth, we are looking for “Project Specialist” to start as
soon as possible.
Duties
and Responsibilities
  • Support
    staff management:
    We have a strong team of operations
    support staff that forms the backbone of our operations. Qualified staff
    may be managing each of the following departments:
    • Transport
      Management:

      You will manage a team which aims to provide safe vehicles to support our
      operations, develop transport policies and systems, and liaise with
      external providers (taxi companies, bus companies, etc.) with an aim to
      providing transport support to all of our team.
    • Property
      Services and Guest Room Management:
      You will
      manage a team which develops maintenance and security systems and
      hospitality services for our offices, homes and guest rooms. This will
      include working with department managers, support staff, our internal
      Infrastructure team and external security providers and providing
      administrative support for these processes.
    • Office
      Management:

      You will oversee the smooth running of office systems and services, both
      at our HQ and our districts offices.
    • Kigali
      Services:

      You will manage a team which provides Corporate Services to our Kigali
      Office and Kigali based services.
    • You
      will be responsible for directing and mentoring department managers in
      each of these areas, and ensuring an excellent quality of service across
      the department.
    • Security
      management:

      You will work on One Acre Fund security in Rwanda. This includes staff
      trainings, infrastructure, information flows, emergency procedures,
      health and safety advice, and managing outsourced security contracts.
    • Culture:
      We have an amazing and unique team who live a fulfilling life in rural
      areas. You will be involved in ensuring the wellbeing of all staff, and
      promoting a positive working culture that everyone is proud to work in.
    • Global
      operational management:
      You will be responsible for
      improving the operations that translate across our branches in East Africa
      – for example emergency procedures and onboarding.
    • Operational
      systems innovation:
      You will be responsible for
      improving and innovating our operations systems and processes to become
      more efficient and impactful.
    • Staff
      development:

      We have fantastic local staff. You will be responsible for further
      training of our staff and building the team capacity to run a smooth and
      sustainable operation. This will include staff training, constant
      mentorship, and feedback.
    • Regional
      operations support:
      You will provide operational
      support to our other branches, working closely with the Corporate
      Operations teams for each country.
Requirements
  • Work
    Experience
    :
    Candidates should have 1-3 years of strong work experiences, including
    project management, team management, or entrepreneurial experiences.
    Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovative,
    results-driven environment.
  • Leadership:
    We
    are looking for candidates with demonstrated leadership experience at
    work, or outside of work. Examples of demonstrated leadership experience
    include managing a team or initiating a new project.
  • Education:
    Strong
    undergraduate background at top East African University or international
    university. Degrees in business, management, social sciences, community
    development, or related fields preferred.
  • Communication:
    Excellent written and oral communication in English, French and
    Kinyarwanda.
  • Attitude:
     Patience,
    a humble approach to service and willingness to living in rural areas for
    at least two years.
  • Other
    Skills
    :
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    Intermediate or better typing speed.
