Position: Credit Manager
Reporting to: Regional Director
Job Objective
To be responsible for credit risk evaluation of proposals from the various market segments and sectors through analysis and evaluation of proposals emanating from these businesses
Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop & manage strategies and policy for the country in cooperation with the Regional Director.
• Participate in recruitment and evaluation of staff performance through adequate supervision, assistance & coaching
• Elaborate, implement a strategy for portfolio build up for the country together with the regional director and work toward achievement of the objectives set.
• Responsible for the buildup & maintenance of a balanced portfolio of quality projects that allows for sustainability
• Perform appraisals of the possibilities of a potential partner.
• Present draft project proposals to the Regional Director for eligible projects, and work in close co-operation in the final appraisal and presentation of the project to the credit committee as well as to assist with the elaboration of draft loan contracts and other legal documentation.
• Maintain open communication with the project holder after disbursement and monitor all projects and ensure all necessary steps to ensure project success and repayment.
• Report to the Regional Director on a monthly basis about the activities performed and project progress and submit every second month a written progress report.
• Prepare reports on specific projects in the country of responsibility for the company’s strategy.
• Monitor the agreed key indicators for financial and social performance of project partners and regularly submit monitoring data to the regional office and ISO.
• Build and maintain a network in the country & neighboring countries with related organizations and development agencies and experts to inform them about the company’s criteria and conditions for loans.
• Provide advisory and consultancy services, upon request of the Regional Director to external development organizations.
Skills & Minimum Requirements
• Advanced academic qualification in economics, business administration etc. from a recognized university.
• 3 – 5 years experience in business, banking and/or economic development and management.
• Relevant experience in the evaluation of investment proposals and management of credit schemes.
• Fluency in English and working knowledge in French and Kinyarwanda
• Must have knowledge in core computer system usage in credit.
• Should have clear Initiative, Ability to work under minimum supervision, Cooperation, Integrity, Problem analysis and assessment, Client and Service orientation, Result orientation, Planning and organizing skills, Building and maintaining networks / relations and proven affinity with development issues and/or social relevant organizations.
• Must be Rwandese national.
