1. A. CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
1. Missions of CEO’s Function
• Start the new company and direct it to the top position on the Rwandan market despite the high level of competition;
o Manage the organization in accordance with the strategic business plans and policies approved by the Board to achieve the agreed goals and objectives;
o Demonstrate capacity for leadership and management skills;
2. Attributions
• The CEO is responsible to the Board for the overall development of strategy, management and performance of the Company for achieving company goals and objectives;
• Identify and recommend to the board competent officers to manage the operations of the company. In the fulfillment of this duty, the CEO shall ensure that the company’s Human Resource policy is adhered to;
• Responsible for training the team for achieving the company objectives;
• Co-ordinate the operations of the various departments within the company;
• Recruit permanent or temporary consultants in collaboration with the Board of Directors;
• Ensure that the Board is frequently and adequately apprised about the operations of the company through presentation of relevant board papers;
• Prepare documents and reports to the regulator;
• Strengthen collaboration with all company’s business stakeholders (Reinsurers, Regulator, Other Financial Institutions, Insurance Brokers …);
• Establish and maintain efficient and adequate internal control systems;
• Design and implement the necessary management information systems in order to facilitate efficient and effective communication within the company;
• Any other duties assigned by the Board of Directors.
3. Required qualifications
Education Background
Have at least a bachelor’s degree (A0) or advanced level in the following disciplines: Insurance, Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Law or other related discipline.
Relevant professional experience
Have at least 10 years of experience in Managerial positions in insurance company of which 5 years in life insurance.
Other Skills
– Perfect writing skills, ability to work under pressure, sense of integrity and leadership, have a sense of anticipation;
– Perfect knowledge of insurance products in general and life insurance products in particular;
– Have a strong strategic thought and planning;
– Demonstrate ability to take measurable professional risks and effective decisions;
– Demonstrate strong sense of discipline, organization, availability and social,
– Demonstrate strong IT skills.
– Fluent in English and French.
B. FINANCE DIRECTOR
1. 1. Duties and responsibilities
– To provide advise and support to CEO on financial matters through regular reporting system
– To ensure effective and efficient organizational cash flows management
– To actively participate in preparing Budgets and ensure monitor its implementation in the light of achieving company mission and objectives
– To ensure compliance with Prime Life Assurance Ltd financial policies, procedures, rules and regulations
– To ensure transparency, integrity, consistency and proper application of Prime Life Assurance Ltd financial and accounting system
– To monitor and evaluate accounting procedures and system, internal controls in place and establish curative measures for any case of weaknesses identified
– To ensure proper and timely annual and quarter report on the Prime Life Assurance Ltd status of financial affairs
– To conduct analysis of Prime Life Assurance Ltd’s financial statements and provide relevant recommendations in the light of improving shareholders wealth
– Ensure that Bank reconciliation for Prime Life Assurance Ltd accounts are regularly performed and regularly reviewed by designated officials
– To ensure proper management of both fixed assets and working capital in the line of achieving overall company goal.
– To supervise staff from finance and other relevant units
– To respond audit queries and make follow-up on audit recommendations
– To perform any other duties specified by CEO as required for the benefit of the company
1. 2. Conditions for the position
– The candidate should have at least a degree in finance, economics or accounting. A Master’s Degree in Business Administration majoring in Finance, Economics, Accounting or any other managerial related field should be an advantage
– Having a professional certificate (ACCA, CPA) would be an added value
– Having strong experience in finance related positions in insurance and or financial institutions would be an added value
– Capacity for conceptual and strategic analysis
– Ability to diagnose and resolve multiple and concurrent problems
– Creative and innovative capacity and ability to work without supervision
– Planning and organizing ability to plan own work and manage conflicting priorities
– Ability to build and work in team and collaborate with business partners
– Willingness to work extra hours and committed to meeting deadlines
– Ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given
– Excellent ability to communicate (both oral and written) in Kinyarwanda, French and/or English. Knowledge of both languages is an added value.
1. 3. Work experience
A minimum of 3 years in similar position or related area is required.
C. TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
1. Missions/ Attributions
• In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer of the Company, he/she must carry out the product development of company’s commercial products;
• Make a proposal for designing new products and oversee their introduction to the market;
• Monitor customer’s contracts;
• In collaboration with the Commercial Department; create and monitor the marketing network;
• Analyze customer business needs, design offers related to and participate in major contract negotiations;
• Demonstrate ability to carry out discussion with actuaries, consultants and other technical experts dealing with the company;
• Co-ordinate and oversee staffs in the Department;
• Any other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
2. Required qualifications
a) Education Background
Have a bachelor’s degree (A0) or advanced level in the following disciplines: Insurance, Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or any other related discipline.
b) Relevant professional experience
Have at least 6 years of experience in Managerial positions in insurance company or other financial institution out of which 3 years in life insurance.
c) Other Skills
• Ability to understand mathematics and financial data;
• Perfect technical knowledge of life insurance products;
• Good computer literacy;
• Fluent in English and French.
