Position
Location:
This job requires moving to and living in various areas across Canada for
months at a time.
Position
Objective:
To obtain employment
at factory farms and slaughter plants across the country in order to document
conditions in these facilities for use in MFA’s legal advocacy, corporate
outreach and education efforts. Investigators must be prepared to witness
unimaginable cruelty and engage in intense manual labor while maintaining their
composure and cover to gather evidence necessary to expose and stop farmed
animal abuse.
Primary
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Travel
throughout Canada to apply for and obtain employment in the animal
agriculture industry, including factory farms, hatcheries, livestock
markets, and slaughterhouses - Using
hidden cameras, thoroughly document conditions and practices in the above
mentioned facilities, paying particular attention to animal welfare issues
and criminal activities - Maintain
daily records and communications with the Director of Investigations
during the course of the investigation - Review,
compile and transmit footage, photographs and notes to the Director of
Investigations - Retain
strict cover and confidentiality in relation to all investigations and any
other sensitive information before, during, and after each case - Sustain
a professional work ethic and meet or exceed all job expectations of the
secondary employer while maintaining cover and following all federal and
local laws - Be
available to meet with law enforcement and provide testimony for all legal
proceedings resulting from an investigation - Follow
all human resource and operational procedures of Mercy For Animals - Perform
any other duties assigned by the Director of Investigations
Position
Requirements:
- The
highest level of personal integrity, intelligence, responsibility, and
intestinal fortitude - Capability
to work independently in physically and emotionally grueling environments - Exceptional
research and organizational skills - Ability
to use discretion in confidential matters relating to investigations - Thorough
knowledge of factory farming, animal husbandry practices, and animal
welfare issues - Commitment
to the objectives of the organization - French
fluency is beneficial - Investigations
experience is not required
