Free the Children
seeks a Catering
Coordinator to assist in the planning and execution of all
stakeholder food at Free the Children’s signature event, We Day. We Day is more

The We Day Catering
Coordinator will work closely with their manager to organize all of the
purchased and sponsored food for all talent, crew, staff and volunteers at We
Day. A successful candidate will have a background in Food and Beverage and or
event planning, strong attention to detail, and be able to collect and maintain
large amounts of information with frequent changes while maintaining a positive
and professional demeanor.

and logistics combined with an interest in social justice is an asset.
The position is
based out of Free The Children’s International office in Toronto (233 Carlton
Street). A minimum two-year commitment is expected. Upon completing the three
(3) month probationary period, all staff members are offered a health plan including
dental and Employee Assistant Program.

Responsibilities:
Reporting directly
to the Catering Manager on the We Day team, the Catering coordinator will work
closely with their manager to:
- Ideate
and create food plans for each We Day city with your manager. - Source
external suppliers for meals that stay within budget. - Acquire
discounts and donations wherever possible when working with suppliers. - Communicate
with the larger We Day team to determine meal timing in venue and develop
detailed schedules outlining all in venue food and beverage. - Set up logistics
for food delivery. - Create
leftover food donation plans in all cities. - Record
accurate information on food allergies and food quantities. - Work
diligently to assess past consumption and calculate future consumption to
plan orders as accurately as possible. - Maintain
detailed inventory of all Food and Beverage items that are being shipped
from event to event, which will help to shape future orders. - Assist
in executing the Food and Beverage model in venue while simultaneously
planning for the next one. - Be
comfortable stepping into the Food Team Lead role during times when the
Catering Manager is not in venue.
Skills and
Qualifications:
- Ideal
candidates will have some work experience in event coordination and/or
food and beverage, specifically catering - Possess
a post-secondary degree/qualification - Excellent
verbal and written communication skills - Extremely
detail oriented with strong attention to effective task completion and a
passion for efficiency - Goal
oriented with enthusiasm for constant improvement and growth in your work - Ability
to multitask, flexible and adaptable to change - Executes
with a high level of positivity and professionalism in the office and at
We Day events - Thorough
understanding of and experience working with Microsoft Office,
specifically Excel & Outlook - An
Ontario driver’s license is an asset - Must be
willing to attend all We Days and be on the road (out of Toronto) for
extended periods of time.
