Meal Exchange is a national youth-driven registered charity working to
achieve a more secure and sustainable food system on campuses and with
communities across the country. We engage, educate and mobilize youth
to support sustainable food systems where food is accessible,
affordable, healthy and socially just.Since 1993, our programs have
been run in over 100 communities across Canada and generated donations
of over $3 million worth of food and funds to address local hunger.


Trick or Eat is Meal Exchange’s largest event of the year – a
Canada-wide Halloween food and fundraising drive. As the Trick or Eat
Coordinator you will be responsible for leading the organization,
execution and evaluation of the event, with support from the Program
Director and Executive Director. This year’s goal is to execute a
campaign base of 100 campus and community campaigns, raise over
$30,000 in funds and over $400,000 worth of food.

This is an opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced and rewarding
environment where you will gain valuable experience in coordinating a
high profile national campaign involving multiple stakeholders.

You will be joining the Meal Exchange national team for a 5 – 6 month
period, and contribute to our efforts to empower student to take an
active role in improving their food system. Working out of the 401
Richmond building – an inspiring space for social entrepreneurs and
artists, you will be sharing space with three other food organizations
in the Sweet 365 Food Hub. Along with the work experience gained, the
position presents terrific networking opportunities in the not for
profit food space.

Note: This is a contract position, which depending on candidate
suitability and availability will be between 4 and 5 months in
duration, concluding between November 15th and December 15th.
Candidates will be expected to commit to the entire duration of this
contract.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with Programming Committee to recruit and coordinate 100 Trick
or Eat campaigns across Canada
• Implementation and management of campaign registration process using
Artez Interactive
• Coordination of development, printing and shipping of promotional materials
• Act as the main contact for organizers, participants, local food
agencies and event donors
• Write engaging and exciting copy for website and e-newsletters
• Deliver on Meal Exchange’s social media strategy for Trick or Eat program
• Work with Executive Director to ensure meeting of fundraising goals
(including sponsorship requests and prize procurement)
• Creation of final event report and update of Trick or Eat Manual

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in organizing multi-faceted events
• Experience organizing a Trick or Eat campaign as a Meal Exchange
chapter member/executive is an asset that will be given special
consideration
• Experience in fundraising is an asset
• Demonstrated ability to set goals and timelines, adhere to workplans
and manage budgets
• Proven ability to self-start, take initiative and engage in active
learning in a team environment
• Strong customer service skills – expressive and persuasive in both
spoken and written communication
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology (i.e. CMSs, MailChimp and
databases) and use of social media (Twitter and Facebook) to connect
communities
• Interest in and knowledge of food security in Canada
• Love of baked goods and ability to contribute to a good playlist

Deadline: There is only one position available. Interviews will be
conducted on a rolling basis until we have found a suitable candidate.
Interviews will be conducted over Google+ and in person.
