The M&E Officer for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) is an
integral part of the VMMC technical team. He I she is responsible for working
with the rest of the M&E team, including data management and health
information staff, to ensure timely and correct data collection and management,
and contribute to the successful and timely completion of reports, including
J-RISE, SAPRI APR, and quarterly reports. He/ she will contribute to preparing
abstracts for presentations and conferences and other use of data,
participating in research as assigned, and working with the Ministry of Health
and Social Welfare on monitoring and evaluation activities. The M&E
Officer, VMMC will assist in technical assistance to health facilities for data
recording and reporting and prepare for Data Quality Assessments (DQA).The
M&E Officer should be strong in data management, data analysis and
number-crunching.
Responsibilities
As part of VMMC team, support quality data collection, management and reporting
of VMMC data.
Prepare reports, presentations as requested with good presentation of
quantitative findings
Meet crucial reporting deadlines including APR I SAPR reports, J-RISE,
quarterly and ad hoc data requests
Forecast and plan for M&E activities as part of the larger VMMC work
planning
Provide VMMC program with M&E inputs; including development of work plans
and indicator frameworks, research and evaluations as arise
Liaise with NACP on health information systems and other M&E issues related
to VMMC
University degree in public health, sociology, demography, statistics, or other
social science area; Masters Degree preferred
3 – 5 years work experience supporting technical or programmatic activities in
HIV/AIDS or other health areas (experience with health facility setting a
plus);
At least 2 years experience in data collection, processing, and analysis:
database experience a plus
Experience implementing qualitative and quantitative research
Excellent time management skills
Knowledge of different analysis software
Report writing and presentation skills
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili
Excellent peoples and partnership skills
Availability and willingness to travel up to 30% time
Preferred Qualifications:
Tanzanian nationals who have previous experience working with an international
organization are preferred.
