Infection Control Practitioner: Regular Full-Time
Infection Prevention and Control Program
Rate of Pay: $31.879/hour to $39.849/hour
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Infection Prevention and Control is a vital component of health care delivery. The Infection Control Practitioner functions as a consultant, role-model, investigator, educator and researcher. The primary responsibilities are focused on the development, implementation, and supervision of the Infection Control and Prevention Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
• Minimum three years recent, related experience in a health care setting
• Recent experience as an Infection Control Practitioner and/or training through an Infection Control certified course
• Certification Board in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) preferred (with a commitment to become certified following three years in the practice of Infection Control if not currently certified)
• Demonstrated knowledge of nursing procedures, microbiology, medical terminology, and statistical concepts
• Demonstrated computer proficiency in relevant software, internet, and literature searches
• Demonstrated working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and high levels of stress amidst constant distraction
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to be self motivated and results oriented while being a collaborative team member
• Ability to effectively train and educate others
• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and to function independently
• Demonstrated excellent problem solving and decision making skills
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
