FOWA is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Fundraising Officer to help with an exciting programme of fundraising activities. It is an interesting and varied role, which incorporates a number of different elements of fundraising. Working in the beautiful surroundings of Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, this job is the ideal opportunity for somebody looking to broaden their fundraising experience and deliver results that will make a huge difference to this small charity.
Your role will include researching, preparing and writing applications to grant-making bodies, supporting the Head of Fundraising in major donor work, providing executive support to the volunteer Campaign Board, implementing a programme of community fundraising activities, undertaking administrative duties and utilising the fundraising database to ensure efficient reporting systems are in place. You will work closely with the Head of Fundraising who will be looking to support, develop and guide a new member of the team as they build upon existing skills and learn new fundraising techniques.
You will have some fundraising experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills and a good eye for detail. You will work well as part of a small team and be able to juggle competing priorities to meet challenges. Your interpersonal skills will be excellent as you will work alongside volunteers and colleagues to deliver results. In addition, you will develop and maintain good relationships with potential funders, supporters, volunteers and members and will be confident in engaging with grant making bodies, companies and high net worth individuals, companies and grant making bodies. You will be able to complete administrative tasks efficiently and will have a high level of IT skills, in particular you will be experienced in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and will be familiar with the use of databases.
FOWA has a strong membership base but fundraising is a relatively new area of focus for the charity. The immediate priority for fundraising is the £3.6million capital campaign to raise funds for the Westonbirt Project. In addition you will help to organise community fundraising activities and promote the idea of fundraising to our 26,000 members. The job is offered on a two year contract, with the possibility of this being extended, depending upon the success of the fundraising.
