The Scottish Business Crime Centre was created in 1996 as part of a unique partnership approach between the Police, business community and Government to reduce business crime. It is a progressive not-for-profit organisation and its mission is to “reduce business crime in Scotland to create a safe and secure trading environment, in which businesses and communities flourish, employment opportunities are developed and prosperity is encouraged.’

Key responsibilities of this role include the following:
• Provide strategic leadership for all SBCC functions.
• Lead the development and implementation of the SBCC’s Strategic Business Plan.
• Be responsible for the financial management of the SBCC and for ensuring its financial viability.
• Raise awareness of key partners in Scottish Government, Police and Partner agencies in respect of the crime prevention and reduction initiatives within the Centre.
• Promote the SBCC to key stakeholders and partners and be responsible for the development and delivery of collaborative working arrangements with our key connectors.
• Lead and motivate staff to deliver strategic objectives.
• Liaise with senior management of key partners to help deliver a strategic approach to community safety and crime reduction.
• Serve as primary figurehead and spokesperson for the SBCC through delivery of conferences and links with the media.
• Work with Chairman and Board of Directors of the SBCC to deliver the Centre’s Strategic Plan.
• Influence and network with key stakeholders and partners in Scotland and beyond to facilitate a collaborative approach to business crime prevention and reduction.
• Recruitment and contracting of employees and consultants.
• Link to academia to seek out joint ways of working.
• Be responsible for development and delivery of the SBCC Marketing Strategy.

This is a high profile role with significant influence in important and challenging areas, and as such, potential candidates will require to meet the following criteria:
• Strong, visionary, leadership with demonstrable ability to develop effective relationships with the external community and opinion leaders, instilling confidence in colleagues and a wide range of stakeholders across private, public and not for profit sectors.
• Charismatic personality and superior interpersonal skills, able to quickly gain respect, ensure credibility and be at ease in a proactive and high profile role.
• Excellent track record, 8+ years at senior management level, with experience of creating and delivering effective, innovative and proven strategies.
• Ability and desire to work in and across the not for profit sector, particularly if coming from the private sector.
• Strong commercial and political acumen with the ability to initiate, lead and manage change.
• Experience/knowledge of key issues pertaining to the sector across the UK and potentially further afield.
• The initiative of a highly motivated self starter able to combine strategic vision with attention to detail and inspirational leadership style, achieving quantifiable success against hard targets.
