Organization: Fresh Air Learning
Location: North Vancouver, BC
Fresh Air Learning connects children to nature through hands-on exploration and
place-based learning. We aim to inspire
a sense of connection, wonder, and love
for our natural and human communities. This fall, we are creating a new program
specifically for our intermediate students (ages 8-12). This program will
incorporate naturalist and hands-on outdoor skills, food systems, permaculture
design, community service, and nature-based rites of passage.
We are seeking a co-teacher for our intermediate class who is interested in
contributing to the development of this evolving program.
You are a person who:
• Shows passion and enthusiasm when you are with children outdoors
• Creates an authentic and attached connection with intermediate students
• Is compassionate and understanding of children’s needs, yet pushes them to move
out of their comfort zone.
• Has an ever-expanding repertoire of naturalist, survival, primitive, and
outdoor skills
• Is self-reflective and able to incorporate feedback
You have experience:
• Developing long-term curriculum for outdoor programs.
• Working with the 8 shields model of teaching and learning
• Developing children’s skills in homesteading, farm, and garden environments
• Working in a collaborative community.
• Assessing risk and managing groups outdoors
• Inspiring learning through service
• Working with homelearners and divergent learners
Location: North Vancouver parks, farms, and gardens.
Wage: $25/hour plus 12% in lieu of vacation and medical benefits (total:
$28/hour).
Hours: Tuesdays/Thursdays from 9-3. 19 hours per week in total including prep
time.
