Free The Children
seeks a Coordinator,
Public Relations.

The position is
based out of Free The Children’s International office in Toronto (233 Carlton
Street). A minimum two-year commitment is expected. There is a three (3) month
probationary period, upon reaching the t

hree (3) month period, all staff
members are offered a health plan including dental and Employee Assistant
Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Write
    and develop media materials such as, press releases, advisories, talking
    points, pitches and compile media lists
  • Media
    relations
  • Research
    and reporting
  • Coordinate,
    prepare and facilitate interviews with Free The Children spokespeople and
    ambassadors
  • Daily
    coverage tracking and database maintenance
  • Event
    management and execution for both small and large scale events including
    press conferences and youth-focused events
  • Administer
    the highest level of quality control
  • Available
    for travel across Canada and internationally, work evenings and weekends
    where necessary

Requirements:

  • Detail-oriented
    and extremely organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced
    environment
  • Superior
    verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate in
    a clear, concise and compelling manner
  • A
    self-starter, able to work independently and as a team
  • Positive,
    enthusiastic, dependable and flexible with a “get-it-done”
    attitude
  • Results-driven
    with strong time-management skills
  • Bachelor’s
    degree preferred in Communications, Journalism or PR-related discipline
    and/or relevant experience in the field
  • Proficiency
    with electronic communication, computing, and other systems that comprise
    the modern working environment
  • Able to
    travel across Canada and internationally where needed
