Works, primarily in the Children’s Garden. This individual will work
with a team of site animators to develop content for weekly programs.
This individual will work both days on the weekend with a flexible
full day during the week.

Responsibilities:
• Work with team to develop weekly program and creative content and
submit to communications department for visitor promotion;
• Oversee and ensure safe delivery of programs according to Evergreen
policies, procedures and training;
• Deliver public programs, including outdoor nature-based activities
for children;
• Responsible for opening, closing and securing the Children’s Garden;
• Manage staff schedules and tracking of program data and statistics;
• Provide direction, feedback and supervision of Children’s Garden
staff and volunteers;
• Liaise and coordinate with staff regarding other programs taking place
onsite;
• Collect and submit donations and expenses appropriately for
Children’s Garden programs;
• Provide a weekly and a consolidated annual report that provides an
overview of attendance, activities, incidents, near misses, issues
and/or lessons to Management;
• Acts as an ambassador for Evergreen to site visitors
• Assist with special events including weekday, evening programs if needed

Qualifications:
• Ability to manage schedules
• Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word and excel)
• An ability to guide diverse members of the public, including
children and youth, in outdoor educational and recreational activities
• Ability to craft with natural materials including wood and clay
• Knowledge of local, organic food and experience cooking outdoors
over an open fire (or willingness to learn)
• Knowledge and experience working with children in a garden
• Experience working with the 8-shields mentoring model for nature
education an asset
• Experience with (or willingness to learn) safe use of simple hand tools
• Education and experience in children’s environmental education and
recreational programming, volunteer coordination, community engagement
and education, youth engagement, and/or community services an asset
• Current standard first aid & CPR training.

Working conditions:
• Able to endure rain and other inclement weather conditions
• Working primarily outdoors with a variety of people, including children
• Available Saturday and Sunday plus one day during the week
• Shifts of 6-8 hours
• Lifting and standing.
