EarthBites is a program offered to schools to help teach children about local
food growth and nutrition through hands-on l
earning. EarthBites works closely
with PACS, teachers & students, transforming their school garden space into
outdoor classrooms that are fully utilized & integrated into the school
curriculum.
We love to inspire the hearts and minds of future generations.
We currently have open position for an EarthBites Facilitator. We are looking
for someone who enjoys sharing with children their knowledge of garden and
earth care. This means we’re looking for someone who can:
• Plan and maintain a healthy and productive school garden throughout the year,
• Collaborate with other EarthBites team members to share planning ideas and to
enhance the program overall and,
• Work with children, volunteers, and school administration to ensure the
program is carried out in an exciting, educational and safe manner.
As an EarthBites Facilitator you:
• Have a passion for both sustainable gardening as well as connected, caring
and cooperative communities.
• Know about sustainable food-producing practices and gardening. A familiarity
with Permaculture ethics and principles is ideal.
• Have the ability to engage children in an outdoor environment.
• Have knowledge of First Nations culture
• Are both a team player and a decisive leader
• Are creative and enjoy exploring new ideas
• Enjoy both working in the garden getting your hands dirty, and sitting at the
computer working on materials for a workshop.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills.
• Display reliability and punctuality
This is a part-time position (10-15 hours/week) and someone with a flexible
schedule is needed (some months there may more work than others). There is a
potential for evening and weekend work.
