Soma
Umenye is a five-year USAID-funded activity that aims to improve reading
outcomes in Kinyarwanda for at least 1 million children in public and
government-aided schools in Rwanda. Covering all 30 districts of Rwanda and
working in close collaboration with the Rwanda Education Boad (REB) and the
Rwandan Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), Soma Umenye will contribute to Rwanda’s
Education Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP) and the Government of Rwanda’s national
development priority of ensuring that Rwandan primary-grad

Duties and Responsibilities
The
EGR Program Assistant will provide Deliver adequate, timely administrative and
logistical support to the Soma Umenye Technical team. S/he will serve as the
interface between the technical staff and the Finance, Operations, and
Procurement offices to ensure smooth coordination of all technical activities.
Specifically, the EGR Program Assistant will:

Specifically, the EGR Program Assistant will:
- Draft
activity approval forms and budgets for review by the activity managers
- Prepare
all necessary procurement action request forms (PARs) and travel advance
authorization requests (TAARs) for related technical team activities.
- Coordinate
all vehicles needs and submit vehicle request forms for the technical team
as needed.
- Support
the technical team to provide regular updates to the Soma Umenye program
calendar, including updates surrounding training activities, consultant
trips, etc.
- Maintains
contact information for key REB, MINEDUC, and other implementing partner
contacts
- Coordinate
meetings and prepare meeting minutes convened or attended by project
technical staff. - Take
meeting minutes for all team meetings and distribute to team members. - Ensure
the proper filing and archiving of all relevant technical and programmatic
documents both via electronic files and hard copy files. - Fulfill
other administrative functions, as required.
Job
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Certificate/diploma
in related field preferred.
- Minimum
of 1 year of experience as administrative assistant, receptionist, or
related position; USAID experience desirable.
- Excellent
interpersonal and communications skills.
- Demonstrated
leadership, versatility, and integrity.
- Written
and spoken proficiency in English.

is a long-term position and the location of assignment is Kigali, Rwanda with
intermittent travel throughout the country.
