The Opportunity

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), Canada’s leader in wetland conservation
is seeking a confident, energetic and dedicated individual to join our
Alberta Operations Team. You will be responsible for managing all DUC
assets while searching

for new wetland restoration opportunities
within the Edmonton-Athabasca regions of Alberta.

You need to be an enthusiastic team player; a self-starter who can
work with anyone and can cultivate partnerships and maintain
relations. You are capable of seeing the bigger picture and your
creativity allows you to think out of the box. You are an effective
communicator who is able to build positive working relationships with
various staff of municipal and county governments, landowners,
industry, agricultural producers, volunteers and other conservation
agencies.

You possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal
skills. You have demonstrated expertise in program planning and
implementation, contract management and tendering. You are persuasive,
goal-oriented, self-motivated, enjoy a complex, changing environment
and can manage numerous projects on tight deadlines.

Your minimum five years experience of proven success makes you the
ideal candidate for this position. Practical experience with water
control structures, conservation projects and programs, agriculture,
engineering and/or biology, would all be considered assets to this
very diverse and challenging opportunity. Any safety training,
experience in sales, negotiation, or pest control should be
highlighted.

The successful candidate will have an affinity to the outdoors,
conservation and the world of waterfowl.

Requirements
• A post-secondary degree or technologist diploma in Agriculture,
Biology or a relevant discipline; equivalent practical field
experience will also be considered
• Strong planning, reporting and project management skills
• An understanding of local agricultural, industry and conservation
practices would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of sustainable and integrated resource management
• Experience with GPS, ArcView, MS Office
• Awareness of AB Occupational Health and Safety practices
• Knowledge of the AB Water Act, Dam Safety Regulations and the
approvals process would be considered an asset
• Previous sales or cold-calling experience would be an asset
• Excellent organization, interpersonal communication skills, both
oral and written
• A valid class 5 driver’s license and drivers abstract
• Previous experience working on a farm is an asset
• Ability to work long/flexible hours in summer with travel
