Opportunity at CRS/Rwanda
Catholic Relief Service is seeking for an Agriculture-Nutrition Officer for its
program, Crop for Health. The Crops for Health program is a being implemented
in partnership with a local NGO and in close collaboration with the Ministry of
Agriculture. The project promotes high nutrient crops including indigenous
crops and bio-fortified crops promoted by the Ministry of Ag
riculture. The
project incorporates an integrated approach combining agriculture
(bio-intensive agriculture), nutrition and economic strengthening promoting the
saving and lending among beneficiaries. It targets 3,750 beneficiaries
including children under five years of age and pregnant and lactating
women.
The Agriculture-Nutrition Officer primary duty will be to ensure timely,
quality implementation of project activities while representing CRS to project
stakeholders and providing Agriculture and Nutrition technical assistance to
implementing partners.
The Agriculture-Nutrition Officer will maintain good collaboration with local
partners and provide direct technical assistance and capacity building in
agriculture and nutrition to partners including local government technical
staff using CRS approaches including Farmer Field Learning School,
bio-intensive agriculture techniques, and seed fairs, as well as Village
Nutrition Schools. The Agriculture-Nutrition Officer will further ensure the
overall coordination and supervision of CRS and partners’ program activities.
The successful candidate will at minimum have the following Qualifications,
Skills and abilities:
- University
Degree (A0 at minimum) with a minimum of one year of experience in
agriculture qualified in crop production, Agribusiness, Public Health,
Nutrition or related field.
- Experience
managing a development project required, including responsibility for
implementation of activities and programmatic and financial reporting.
- Should
have training or experience in participatory approaches and familiar with
adult learning methodologies.
- The
person should be highly motivated, keen to learn and have a real interest
in field work ;
- Familiarity
with bio-intensive agriculture techniques.
- Strong
experience with planning and report writing.
- Experience
in monitoring and evaluation systems and reporting.
- Flexibility
to work both in a team and independently.
- Ability
to communicate (both orally and written) in English and French required.
- Proficiency
in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
