The Akilah Institute for Women is looking for a Math/IT instructor for our Kigali campus. The ideal candidate must have teaching experience, patience, flexibility, creativity, fluency in English, and be committed to
improving the lives of young women. We currently have 100 students studying Monday to Thursday in Kibagabaga, Kigali.
We are looking for someone to teach 2nd semester, starting May 7 through August 17, with the option to extend long-term. The instructor is responsible for the design and implementation of a complete course syllabus, all related materials and for maintaining accurate and timely records for all classes and students. All classes are taught in English.
Ideal candidates have the following skills, experience and knowledge:
Commitment to Akilah’s vision, mission and core values
Passionate about women’s empowerment and education
Ability to work on an international team in an ever-changing environment
The instructor must be patient with all levels of English and extremely adept at maneuvering through a cross-cultural environment
Ability to create and adapt standard curriculum to the unique needs of Akilah and Rwanda
Ability to thrive in a dynamic start up environment
Experience in the classroom
Skilled at developing respectful, encouraging and positive relationships with students
Flexible and adaptable team member
Previous international exposure, especially in Africa
Master’s preferred
