Type: unpaid internship with negotiable room, board, stipend (July – mid August) Organization: Seasoned Spoon Cafe
Location: Peterborough, Ontario

The Seasoned Spoon Café is a not-for-profit cooperative that serves locally grown, organic food at Trent University, in Peterborough, Ontario.

This summer we are looking for an intern with prior construction experience to help build an ecological root cellar, using “earthbag construction” and a living roof building techniques. You will be working alongside an experienced green builder, café staff and other volunteers. Our ideal intern is reliable, works well as part of a team, and is good with directions. This is a great opportunity to learn a variety of natural and environmentally friendly building techniques, such as earthbag construction, compressed earth block walls, plastering, living roof, and more.

In exchange we can offer fresh organic vegetables, lunches, and are in the process of investigating the possibility of free board.

The position is 6 weeks, it begins in July and runs until mid-August. Interested in helping, but can’t commit to 6 weeks? We are also looking for volunteers to help out at work days.

Serious inquiries only please. We are willing to negotiate the conditions of room and board and the possibility of a stipend.
