Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Web and Social Media Officer Job Vacancy in Malawi

Background
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is a
constitutional body created under Section 75 of the Constitution of the
Republic of Malawi to supervise and direct the conduct of all elections in
Malawi. The Commission is given mandate to civic educating the electorate. The
Commission is enforcing its presence on the internet and social media as one
way of reaching out to the electorate as part of the preparations for the 2014
Tripartite Elections. Therefore a temporary vacancy has arisen for Web and
Social Media officer.

Job placement
The Web and Social Media Officer will be based at the
MEC Head Office in Blantyre and will work under the direct supervision of the
Directors of ICT and Media and Public Relations.

Job description
The Web and Social Media Officer will be
responsible for:

• Developing content for the MEC website and all
its social media platforms

• Monitoring the representation of MEC on social
media and internet and reporting on the same to the Commission

• Updating the MEC website, Facebook page, Twitter
handle and blog on events about the Commission and its relevant stakeholders.

• Designing web materials for placement on web and
social media platforms

Qualifications
• At least a diploma in IT or website design from a
recognized training institution

• Demonstrated experience in web design and
management of not less than three years.

• Knowledge of graphic design packages like Adobe
Photoshop, Pagemaker, Adobe Indesign and Quark express is a must.

• Knowledge of web design and management packages.
Knowledge of Dot Net Nuke technology will be a distinctive advantage.

Period of Employment
The Web and Social Media Officer will be engaged
for a period of nine months.
