Health Workers

The Botswana Christian
AIDS Intervention Programme is a Non – Governmental faith based Organisation
registered in 1999. It offers HIV prevention and AIDS care, Community TB care,
Orphans and Vulnerable Children care and Community Mobilisation of HIV
prevention and Gender based Violence programs. We operate in 13 districts
(centres) across Botswana.

We are looking for
qualified, experienced and result-oriented individuals to provide education and
empowerment of Adolescents and Young Women (aged 10-24 years) on the Advancing
Partners & Communities Project

funded by USAID through FHI360. The project
will be implemented in Gaborone.

Main purpose of Job:

1. To map
communities in Gaborone and identify AGYW who are most at high risk of
contracting HIV
2. To assess all individuals who could present to be at a higher risk and make
risk reduction plans with them
3. Advocate and lobby for appropriate interventions for this targeted
population
4. To collate all project data and ensure that the organisation reports good
quality reports to the donors.
5. Linking those with needs to other service points not provided by BOCAIP
6. Be a liaison between the communities and the Senior Community Health Workers
through government health facilities

Position
Requirements:
1. BGCSE certificate but a certificate in any health field will be an added
advantage.
2. At least 2 years work experience within HIV and AIDS field doing community
work
3. Christian background
4. No criminal record
5. Should be a Motswana not older than 27 years
6. Have a driver’s license

Competencies:
1. Sets high standards for quality of work, being exemplary and consistently
achieves project goals and objectives.
2. Able to work effectively under pressure.
3. Community work skills
4. Knowledgeable on HIV & AIDS especially the community mobilisation
component
5. Demonstrates good supervision skills.
6. Only suitably qualified candidates are invited to submit
