HOURS OF WORK
(SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
Must be available to
work shifts Monday through Saturday, day and evening shifts.
This position is available at the Church Street Site
DUTIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
All aspects of care
for patients receiving hemodialysis with a primary nursing focus
Provision of acute hemodialysis treatment on inpatient units, ICU, ER
Participation in on call rotation
for provision of acute hemodialysis treatment
Providing education and follow-up to all hemodialysis patients
Must participate in quality assurance activities
PRE-REQUISITES
INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Current RN
registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current BCLS certification
1 to 2 years of general Medical/Surgical Nursing experience
Recent hemodialysis experience is preferred
Nephrology courses 1 to 4 preferred or commitment to complete within an agreed
period of time.
Certification in Nephrology an asset or commitment to complete within an agreed
period of time
Patient assessment course and demonstrated good patient assessment skills
Experience in peritoneal dialysis an asset
Demonstrated proficiency in initiating I.V therapy, I.V push meds and
venipuncture
Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to
work with a multidisciplinary team, including other health team members, patients, family members and
visitors
Demonstrated good patient/family teaching skills
Ability to be flexible and effectively work in a busy environment with changing
priorities and tight deadlines
Demonstrated initiative in improving work skills and processes
Excellent attendance record
Knowledge of a second language an asset
On call duties as assigned
