The NFU is Hiring!
The National Farmers Union is a direct-membership organization made up of
Canadian farm families who share common goals. This structure recognizes that
every family member contributes to the farm
by working on it directly or
indirectly through off-farm employment.
The NFU is currently looking for a contractor to fill the position of
Educational Resources Developer and deliver the following as part of a larger
capacity-building project:
Main Deliverables:
• A participatory event format (“Kitchen Table” meeting) for
volunteers to organize to promote local engagement with the NFU, designed in
collaboration with the project’s Membership Development Trainer
• A set of discussion packages based on NFU policy, locally-identified issues
and participatory adult education principles and processes to support
volunteers leading Kitchen Table meetings. Discussion packages will include
feedback elements for evaluating the meeting success to local organizers and
communicating policy-related outcomes to elected officials.
The successful contractor must have:
• Experience working with volunteer-driven non-profit membership organizations
• Experience planning and implementing projects
• Experience in using adult education principles and processes. Excellent
written communication skills. Familiarity with the NFU’s key policy areas,
history, values and analysis of farm issues.
• Demonstrated ability to use distance education methods involving webcasts,
screen casts, video and recorded teleconferencing
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and work within approved budgets
• Fluency in French will be considered an asset
The role is that of an independent contractor, which requires the successful candidate
to provide invoices and to manage their own tax remittances. This is a
short-term contract (until December 15, 2015) with flexible location (anywhere
in Canada).
