VSO Primary Education Teaching Advisor Job Vacancy in Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda

Every child has a right to an education that is
appropriate to their learning needs and prepares them for their future life,
delivered by teachers who are qualified and motivated.  With increasing
world levels of participation in primary education, there is a growing need to
ensure that teachers in developing countries have the capacity and
confidence to deliver an education to its fullest potential.

VSO is committed to improving the skills of
teachers in the developing world to ensure education for all children by 2015.
Working as a Primary Education Teacher Advisor, you will support teachers
in making the most of their resources. You will encourage
their development of child-centred learning materials, enabling them
to transform classrooms into vibrant learning environments in countries such as
Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
What will the role involve:
You’ll work to improve education programmes and the
quality of education delivery. Duties could include:
·  Working alongside classroom teachers
to help them develop inclusive, interactive child-centred approaches;
·   Identifying the needs of
teachers through monitoring and observation and developing necessary training
methods;
·   Facilitating training for
teachers, particularly in developing effective, low-cost resources;
·   Supporting school leaders to
identify teaching skills gaps and areas for development.
Skills, qualifications and experience required:
You’ll need to have a Bachelor Degree with a PGCE
or a Bachelors Degree in Education with at least three years teaching
experience (preferably at primary school level). You’ll have experience of
active learning, child-centred teaching and continuous assessment. Experienced
in classroom observation, you’ll have great interpersonal skills combined with
a flexible and adaptable attitude. Experience of working in CPD is highly
desirable. Self-motivated and well-organised, you will need to be culturally sensitive
with strong communication skills and the confidence to create positive
relationships in diverse working environments.

commit between 12 to 24 months to make a sustainable contribution to our

country, we’ll support you to resettle.
