Chief
Finance Officer

Directly reporting
to the CEO, the successful candidate will be involved in all of the aspects and
central to the strategic thinking and process shaping of the finance function

Highlights of the
key Responsibilities:

  • Lead
    the development of an overall business plan that includes, among other
    things, the branch targets and projections
  • Perform
    functions specified by the BOD and/or ALCO in relation to establishing
    broad guidelines for the institution´s tolerance for risk, and
    expectations from investment;
  • Provide
    technical oversight to the branch accountants in formulating and
    implementing the branch accounting system
  • Ensures
    that the company maintains adequate and accurate records including balance
    sheet and periodic Income statement
  • Advisor
    to the Managing Director and Senior Management on all matters relating to
    Finance including treasury, accounting, and administration;
  • Liaises
    with tax authorities/ consultants whenever necessary;
  • Maintain
    insurance portfolio and ensures that all claims are settled without undue
    losses to the organization.
  • Timely
    and accurate submission of reports to Management, BNR, Statutory bodies,
    the Board and other stakeholders.
  • Oversees
    the maintenance of up to date and well kept books of Account
  • Protect
    the integrity of accounting data
  • Facilitating
    the external audit process
  • Supervise
    VFC’s treasury function to ensure profitable and compliant operations
  • Elaborate
    strategy for inter-bank money market and be involved in budget
    preparations
  • In
    charge of Central Bank reporting and compliance to financial &
    liquidity requirements.

Qualifications:

Knowledge
and Technical Skills:

The following may be
acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or
on-the-job training:

  • Certified
    Public Accountant (CPA), ACCA or similar qualification.
  • Masters
    / Degree in Business Administration will be of added value
  • A
    minimum of 5 years in the field of Accounting & Finance one of which
    must have been on the senior management level.
  • Overall
    understanding and deep insights into Treasury Management
  • Good
    knowledge of the local regulatory requirements under which VFC operates.
  • Determined
    personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and
    manage a team
  • Capability
    and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of
    integrity
  • Ready
    to comply and live up to and in accordance with the organization Ideals
    and Core Values
  • Competence
    in Microsoft Office applications. Accounting and loan tracking system.
  • Experience
    in Micro fin is an added advantage.
  • Be
    proficient in Microsoft with accounting package and loan trucking systems.
  • Good
    knowledge in Economic and Financial topics
  • Be a
    good trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach
  • Fluent
    written and verbal English.
  • Fluency
    in French or Kinyarwanda highly desirable
