Sample size and sampling procedure

The sample for the study
consists of teachers and students in the five selected secondary schools in
Ogwashi-Uku. The sample size for the study was 150 respondents which were
proportionately selected from the five selected secondary schools.  52 respondents were randomly selected from Nshiagu
College, 47 from Adiagbo Secondary School, 42 from Comprehensive Secondary
School, 32 from Saint Roses Girls’ Grammar School and 27 from Institute of
Continuing Education. The random sampling was carried out using balloting
without replacement method. The researcher selected the respondents from each
school using a selection method that was based on slips of paper marked “yes”
or “no” that were dropped in a container, the content were shuffled and those
that picked “yes” were selected until the number of respondents required in
each of the schools were completed. This was done to give everyone an equal
opportunity to participate in the research without any form of bias.
