The people were briefed on the aim and objectives of
the study and it was collected through venous puncture.
Procedure
i.
A tourniquet was tied to the upper arm of the
subject.
ii.
The subject was asked to make a fist and site of
puncture was tapped if vein was not visible.
iii.
The site of puncture was cleaned using a swab.
iv.
A puncture was made at the anti-cubital vein
using a sterile syringe and needle with bevel of the needle pointing upward in
line with calibration.
v.
After obtaining the blood, the needle was
removed and a sterile dry cotton wool was pressed over the puncture site.
vi.
The needle was removed from syringe and
transferred into an EDTA container and mixed by gentle inversion
