Rwanda Media Commission (RMC) Media Freedom Monitoring and Legal Affairs Officer Job Vacancy in Rwanda

Media Self Regulatory Body, established by Law
no.02/2013 of 08/02/2013, is recruiting two officers for the jobs described
below:

1. Media Freedom, Monitoring and Legal affairs Officer (Press,TV,
Radio,Internet)

Duties
– Examine applications from journalists for press cards and accreditations as
appropriate
– Prepare Press Cards and any supporting documents for signature by those
responsible
– Compile and manage database of applicants and licences
– Hold updated reports of all newspapers published in Rwanda;
– Read and analyze articles published by national media and make a press
review, – Analyze programmes as well as debates organized by radios in Rwanda,
– Analyze TV information, debates as well as TV adverts produced in Rwanda,
– Compile, in a fixed lead time, a report on the modes of functioning of
radios, TV and Internet and propose the appropriate manner to improve their
professionalism;
– Propose to RMC officials reliable data to improve enabling environment
towards growth of media freedom.
– Receive and analyse media related complaint cases and advise the responsible
Committee for action
– Perform any other assignment demanded by RMC authorities

Qualifications
– Bachelor´s degree in either Law, Journalism and Communication, Social
Sciences or International Relations,
– Good command of Kinyarwanda , French and English;
– Three years working experience in monitoring position.

Press House, Remera, not later than Monday 1 of July 2013.
