Marketing Coordinator Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director, in this 4 days-per-week, 1-year maternity leave position, the Marketing Coordinator (MC) is responsible to coordinate, implement and meet firm deadlines all matters related to marketing and communicating TRC programs (Education, Stewardship, Gardening and Volunteerism) to the community.
The MC implements marketing plans and public communications for The Riverwood Conservancy Enabling Garden (a new special needs garden) and all special events. A member of the Marketing Committee, the MC supports staff and volunteers in all marketing matters and coordinates, as needed with TRC partners, including the City of Mississauga, Credit Valley Conservation, Visual Arts Mississauga and University of Toronto Mississauga.
Specific responsibilities
• write media releases; coordinate the production of Samara (TRC quarterly newsletter); write and distribute a monthly e- newsletter and seasonal Calendar of Events with information provided by other staff; manage and update the website, Facebook and Twitter; create and coordinate production of all brochures; provide event information to the City of Mississauga for their digital signs; coordinate with the Special Events Committee to produce publicity materials for the annual fundraiser, Earth: A Celebration and other special events; coordinate with partners as needed;
• build the group photography program at the Chappell House gardens in Riverwood, attend wedding shows to promote the program and liaise with the City of Mississauga Customer Service Office and wedding industry, as needed;
• increase awareness of Riverwood park and all TRC programs and services;
• monitor the success of marketing initiatives and establish and evaluate ways to improve marketability and public awareness of programs;
• assist to manage the TRC archive of images;
• coordinate and supervise volunteers when needed; and,
• present marketing ideas to senior management
Qualifications
• five (5) years proven experience in marketing and communications;
• excellent verbal and written skills;
• demonstrated organizational skills, ability to multi-task and meet scheduled deadlines;
• demonstrated computer skills, including (MS Office, Adobe Design Suite CS4 including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, web development software and social media tools (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube)
• experience working with volunteers is an asset;
• experience with writing and editing (newsletters, articles, press releases, etc)
• ability to make the most of limited budgets and some experience working with the charitable sector is an asset; and,
The salary range for this part-time maternity leave position is $32,000 to $34,000.
