Salary:
$32,800
Having
recently been chosen to become a member of Sustainability CoLab (http://sustainabilitycolab.org)
reThink Green is on track to launch a new program in early 2016. Working with
the Executive Director and the Boards of Directors this position will support
the development and implementation of a target based greenhouse gas reduction
plan for businesses and organizations. You will also act as coordinator for
Clean Air Sudbury. You are an energetic, innovative and action-oriented networker
with a passion for the environment and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Primary
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Market
    research and brand development for the new program.
  • Develop
    partnerships by strengthening relationships with stakeholders, enhancing
    the profile of both Clean Air Sudbury and Sustainability CoLab Sudbury
    within the community.
  • Represent
    reThink Green and Clean Air Sudbury at community and business events.
  • Organize
    meetings, events, seminars and workshops.
  • Participate
    in developing a business plan for Sustainability CoLab Sudbury.
  • Research
    and assist in preparing funding applications.
  • Research
    and prepare reports, presentations, marketing materials and newsletters.
  • Develop
    and update websites and social media.
Eligibility
Criteria
Must
be 30 years of age or under have graduated within the last three years with a
degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Preference will be given to Northern Ontario youth.
Must
not have previously participated as a youth intern in FedNor’s Northern Ontario
Development Program or in any other federal or provincial internship program
with pay for a period of six months or more.
Education
and Experience
  • Post-Secondary
    Degree should ideally be in a relevant field of study such as business,
    marketing, commerce and/or sustainability and environmental management
  • Experience
    in business development/sales/marketing/customer service.
  • Experience
    organizing and attending professional events.
  • Exposure
    to principles of environmental sustainability.
  • Experience
    within a non-profit organization or a social enterprise is an advantage.
Work
Environment
  • Usually
    work in an office environment, but may occasionally meet with clients off
    site.
  • Usually
    work a standard work week, but additionally will work evening, weekends,
    and overtime hours to accommodate activities such as Board meetings, and
    special events. Time off will be given to compensate for overtime.
  • Ability
    to drive and access to a vehicle is an asset.
Qualifications
1)
Leadership Skills: ability to plan, strategize, set goals, develop work
plans, work efficiently and track progress; strong ability to work
independently; ability to multi-task and assist with multiple projects and
initiatives; initiative to explore new ideas and create new opportunities;
ability to make decisions and resolve problems.
2)
Business and Financial Planning Skills: experience preparing business
plans; strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage project
schedules and deliverables; demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit.
3)
Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, versatile and
adapt to a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and
efficiency. Ability to learn new technologies and master new skills.
4)
Communication Skills: excellent communication skills (oral and written);
ability to deliver presentations, seminars and educational workshops; knowledge
of effective communication tools and strategies to engage the public;
bilingualism considered a significant asset.
5)
Interpersonal Skills: Establish and maintain positive working
relationships with others, both internally and externally. Anticipate,
understand, and respond to the needs of clients to meet or exceed their
expectations. Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals,
resolve problems, and make decisions.
6)
Environmental Knowledge: current knowledge of key environmental issues,
particularly air quality and carbon emissions. Continued interest in learning
and expanding knowledge through professional development opportunities and
personal initiative.
7)
Technical Skills: excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Outlook, Email and Internet). Website development and management skills are an
asset.
