SUMMARY OF
THE POSITION
The Research Study
manager is a three-month grant-funded position to support evaluation of the
safety, efficacy, usability and functionality of the infant warmer in the
district hospital setting in Rwanda.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities
of the research study manager include, but are not limited to:
- Work
on a daily basis at the study site (Kirehe district or Butaro district)
to ensure eligible patients are recruited, consent families, collect and
enter data, and assist with data analysis. The study manager should be
available to answer any questions hospital staff or families have about usage
of the infant warmer.
- Supervise
and ensure appropriate use of the infant warmer according to the study
protocol. The study manager will routinely observe the study to note any
deviations which may lead to safety concerns. If this were to occur it
is the Study Managers role to intervene, discuss and educate the
hospital staff to prevent unsafe use of the warmer. The Study Manager
will routinely monitor and intervene if the warmer material demonstrates
any breakdown or other changes.
- Assist
in obtaining and maintaining all study materials, forms, and supplies
for use according to study protocols.
- Maintain
close communication with all study collaborators, including study
investigators, PIH/IMB, hospital staff and authorities.
- Report
to principal investigators any complication, adverse event caused by the
infant warmer as described in the research protocol.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A0 or
A1 nurse with at least 2 years of clinical experience.
- Minimum
two years of experience supporting the administration or execution of
research activities in an academic or global health setting
- Previous
experience with data management and facility for using electronic data
management systems; advanced knowledge of biostatistics or data analysis
is advantageous
- Demonstrated
professionalism and proficiency working in a clinical setting and
facility in interacting with health care staff and clients
- Minimum
two years of experience living and working in a resource-poor setting
and collaboration with diverse and multicultural teams in a professional
setting is preferred
- Strong
organizational and communication skills including experience with
project management/coordination and budget execution;
- Outstanding
interpersonal skills, diplomacy, humility, and a commitment to social
justice;
- Fluency
in English is required; proficiency in French is advantageous but not
required
