supports people with severe intellectual an

d physical disabilities 24/7. We are
one of Western Australia’s leaders in this field and we have a job for a
dedicated and enthusiastic occupational therapist who is passionate about
keeping people with disabilities healthy and engaged. You will be part of a
dynamic, interdisciplinary team, and will have the support of senior clinical
staff in all areas of service delivery.

Reporting
to the Senior Occupational Therapist, some of your duties will include:
  • Comprehensive
    assessment of people with disability across the lifespan
  • Planning,
    implementation and evaluation of individual and group programs for both children
    and adults with disability
  • Working
    with families, schools, and other agencies to support service users in all
    aspects of their lives
  • Documentation
    of and reporting on intervention strategies
  • Seating
    and positioning for people with complex needs
  • Providing
    support to senior clinical staff by contributing to initiatives related to
    areas such as clinical service delivery and continuous improvement
  • Recommendation
    of appropriate aids and equipment in accordance with the Community Aids
    and Equipment Program (CAEP)
  • Acting
    as a consultant through the provision of expert advice and information to
    residents, service users, families and staff as appropriate
  • Supervision,
    support and mentoring of other staff
 What
you’ll need:
  • Bachelor
    of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or approved equivalent, and
    registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Demonstrated
    interpersonal skills
  • Highly
    developed oral, written and collaborative communication skills
  • Ability
    to represent Nulsen at an interagency level
  • Demonstrated
    initiative and innovative problem solving skills
  • Clear
    understanding of the needs and rights of people with disabilities, and of
    the concepts of social role valorisation, inclusion, active support and
    quality of life
  • Demonstrated
    ability in assessment and clinical reasoning which supports planning,
    implementing and evaluating Occupational Therapy services with the purpose
    of achieving the highest possible quality of life for people with
    disabilities
  • Ability
    to travel to residential homes within the metropolitan area
  • Ability
    to work effectively and collaboratively as a team member with clients,
    families, support staff, health services staff and other professionals
  • Current
    Australian driver’s licence, a National Police Clearance less than three
    years old, and a current Working with Children Check.
