Single Project Implementation Unit (SPIU)
For Private Sector Development and Business Climate Projects.
The Single Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) in the Ministry of Trade and
Industry is seeking to recruit a qualified Staff for the Post of Accountant.
Roles and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Accountant the SPIU Accountant will perform
the following duties and responsibilities:
• Performs complex accounting activities
• Ensures that accounting records are prepared in accordance with existing
legislation and manuals
• Ensures that all required accounting source documents accompany all
transactions and adhere to all donor requirements supporting projects in SPIU
• Ensure accounting accuracy and soundness of all asset and liability data
• Prepare records that facilitate analysis
• Make record of financial transcriptions into available accounting systems
• Prepare monthly Bank reconciliation to her/his superior
• Prepare vouchers and the proper filing of accounting documents
• Manage Petty cash and Prepare Monthly reports
• Give periodic reports and report on time
• Verify codes in conformity with the Chart of Accounts
• Prepare payments based on adequate supporting documents
• Ensure implementation of audit recommendation
• Perform other any other duties assigned by management
Employee’s reporting
obligation
The SPIU Accountant shall report directly to the Chief Accountant who also
reports to the Manager Finance Services.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• At least a bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• At least 1 year experience in finance of Public Sector Project with proven
experience in managing finances and procedures of donor funded projects
• Be computer literate and fluent in English
• The knowledge of French will be an added advantage
• Be familiar with the use of different Accounting software ,the knowledge of
Tompro will be an added advantage
