Technology

The Malawi University of Science and technology (MUST ) is the  4th public
university to be established by the government of Malawi,  MUST is located
at Ndata Farm , 27 kms from Limbe, MUST is offering undergraduates and
postgraduate programmes in the follo
wing disciplines : Chemical Engineering,
Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Earth Sciences, Biomedical Engineering,
Meteorology and Climate Science, Entrepreneurship and innovation

MUST has academic vacancies on permanent or contract basis in the following
discipline at Professor/Reader (Associate Professor)/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer
levels or Staff Associates

Biological Sciences : Molecular Biology
Biological Sciences: Cell biology and Biotechnology
Chemistry
Computer Sciences with expertise in Networking
Computer Sciences with expertise in Programming
Computer Sciences with expertise in Hardware Engineering
Computer Sciences with expertise in Software Engineering
Electrical Engineering (Electrical and Electronics)
Electrical Engineering (Control Systems)
Language and Communication
Mechanical Engineering with a bias in Materials Engineering and also with sound
knowledge in Engineering Drawing, Workshop Practice and Auto-CAD
Mechanical Engineering with bias in Dynamics and Control
Mechanical Engineering with a bias in fluid mechanics, Thermodynamics and Heat
and Mass Transfer
Statistics

MUST is looking for candidates with proven and a track record of commitment ,
excellence in teaching and research and resource mobilisation

The main purpose of for all the above academic positions is to teach at both
undergraduate and postgraduate levels, carry out research, consultancy and
outreach activities, scholarly publishing, curriculum development/revision and
provide guidance to students.  Senior academics are expected to mentor the
new generation of academics
Interested candidates should possess the following attributes

Knowledge – candidates must be those with strong
knowledge of the subject area combined with a broad subject background enabling
contribution to teaching and research

Skills – Candidates must have excellent
interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, Those with proven record
of ability to attract funding, conduct high quality research which is reflected
in the authorship of high quality publications, or other research outputs in
other relevant fields shall have an added advantage e

Aptitude – Candidates must have ability to work
collaboratively

Qualifications – PhD in relevant field for those
applying for Professorship and Reader
PhD or Masters degree in relevant field for positions lower than reader
A Distinction or Credit first Degree for those applying for positions of Staff
Associates

Previous Experience – Research experience in
relevant field : Teaching and assessment of students work at undergraduate
and/or postgraduate at tertiary educational level, Curriculum design,
Engagement with scholarly/professional community and pastoral care of
students

Personal Qualities – Essential- Commitment to
academic research; high quality teaching and fostering a positive learning
environment for students, continuous professional development and ability to
work harmoniously with colleagues and partners from outside the institution and
students of all cultures and backgrounds

Desirable – Willingness to be committed to the vision and mission of the Malawi
University of science and Technology
